Whether you shave, wax or sugar let Phiz Spa help battle your ingrown hair problems on face and body.
Ingrown Treatment - $20 Add on this service to control inflamed follicles. How long should hair be before doing the sugar wax? At least the length of a rice kernel or 1/4". 1/2" is better if hair has been shaved. Cut hair is heavier than new growth.
How long does hair removal last? This is different for everyone. Most people are hair free for at least 2 weeks before they start seeing new growth. New growth is soft and fair and very manageable while waiting another 2+ weeks for the hair to be long enough for your next removal service.
How often should I get sugared? Almost all of our services are recommended maintenance every 4-6 weeks. Hair grows in different stages. Once you start getting regular hair removal, everything starts trying to grow on the same cycle. Meaning that your sugaring will last longer and the hair that does grow back is sparse. Also, it's a good idea to make sure your roots don’t have enough time to get nourishment and become big again (ouch!).
Does it hurt? The first time is always the hardest due to your roots being fully nourished, large and never having experienced the sensation of removal. But due to using a numbing cleanser, pulling the skin taut and the use of sugar (that never gets too hot or adheres to the skin), we know our hair removal services are designed to cause you as little pain as possible.
Can I go workout afterwards? Use a tanning bed or hot tub? It’s not recommended, the area can be tender so you will want to avoid any additional irritation or bacteria to the freshly awakened pores. Clearly, don’t use tanning beds before either. We don’t want that area any more sensitive to hair (and in this case, skin) removal. Besides, that’s what our Airbrush Tanning service is for. And we can definitely spray you down after your sugaring.
Do you use the sugar for all areas of the body? We use sugar paste for as much of our services as possible. Sugar melts down with heat and moisture so depending on the client we may have to dip into our organic chocolate hard wax (for sensitive skin/areas) for minor clean-up of Brows or Bro'zilians.
What should I do for ingrown hairs? UGH!! Ingrowns are the worst! And our arch-nemesis!! So you have a few options… During your hair removal, we may try to gently remove any hairs ready but hard to get. Immediately after your service, let’s leave the area be for a few days. About week 2 or 3 is when the new soft hairs are giving you the struggle so you are welcome to use a mesh scrub glove during your shower to gently open those pores. And if normal exfoliation doesn’t do the trick we recommend our Phancy Post Wax Splash or Lotion. Our product has Alpha Hydroxy Acid to help minimize the inflammation and oils blocking the path for that hair to get out.
Other than that, let's just do it. It's not as scary as it sounds and you'll be happy with the results!!
